About I'RAISE:
I'RAISE Girls & Boys International Corporation, founded in 2012 in the heart of the North Bronx, began as a mentorship program aimed at at-risk female youth living in New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) facilities. With the visionary leadership of CEO Shanequa Moore, the organization expanded its impact, moving from a mentorship focus to addressing the critical need for mental health support for youth in public schools.
Today, I'RAISE is committed to fostering resilience, promoting well-being, and empowering youth through culturally responsive programs and advocacy for equity in mental healthcare. Through its work, I'RAISE is creating lasting social change for vulnerable children and families.
Mental Health Aide Internship Overview
As a Mental Health Aide Intern with I'RAISE, you will gain hands-on experience in the mental health field while supporting initiatives designed to promote emotional well-being in children and youth. This internship is ideal for students or recent graduates pursuing careers in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in developing and implementing mental health programs for children and youth.
Provide administrative and logistical support for mental health workshops, group sessions, and outreach activities, and assist with individual sessions.
Conduct research on mental health topics and compile resources for program development.
Maintain accurate client case documentation and records of mental health activities and participant progress.
Collaborate with licensed professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality mental health services.
Offer empathetic, non-judgmental support to children and families as needed.
Assist in organizing mental health awareness campaigns and educational materials.
Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and supervision with mental health professionals.
Provide administrative support
Other internship duties as assigned
Qualifications
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Education, or a related field.
Prior experience working with children, youth, or families
Passionate about working with youth and promoting mental health awareness.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Reliable, empathetic, and culturally sensitive.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace tools.
