About I'RAISE
I'RAISE Girls & Boys International Corporation, founded in 2012 in the heart of the North Bronx, began as a mentorship program aimed at at-risk female youth living in New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) facilities. With the visionary leadership of CEO Shanequa Moore, the organization expanded its impact, moving from a mentorship focus to addressing the critical need for mental health support for youth in public schools.
Today, I'RAISE is committed to fostering resilience, promoting well-being, and empowering youth through culturally responsive programs and advocacy for equity in mental healthcare. Through its work, I'RAISE is creating lasting social change for vulnerable children and families.
I'RAISE's seeks enthusiastic and caring interns to join us this summer at our Afterschool Program in Brooklyn, New York. Be a part of our summer team as a Group Teacher Aide Intern.
Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers in planning and implementing engaging and educational classroom activities
- Collaborate with teachers to ensure a smooth learning, in addition to classroom lesson plannings, projects, and summer activities
- Co-teach and co-lead classroom lessons (under the internship supervisor's supervision)
- Provide support to pre-k to 5th grade students during classroom sessions
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and fellow staff members
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for program improvement, including workshop ideas
- Facilitate small group activities and discussions with the students, and do students supervision as needed (while under the supervision of internship supervisor)
- Provide individualized support to students with diverse learning needs.
Qualifications:
- Candidates should be enrolled in a degree program in education, early childhood education, elementary education, or a related field
- Candidates must have interest working as a teacher in the future, and gaining real-life classroom experience at a public school setting, and working with pre-k to 5th grade students
- Experience working with children preferred, whether through volunteer work, previous internships, or other relevant experiences, is valued
- Working with groups of children requires patience and adaptability
